Here you can see some of the influence of different architectural styles. The Romans used primarily rocks mortared together and then covered with Stucco. The Greeks used primarily bricks and the Romans discovered that bricks gave them more strength around the windows and doors, but as the rock design was cheaper they used that for the remainder of the walls.
